The heart of ministry is servant hood, and servant hood is a love for others and by showing that love be serving them.

Joshua 24 verse 15:  “As for me and my household we will serve the Lord.”

Sometimes we think people serve the church or ministry, this is a totally wrong concept. Jesus offers a model of servant-leadership when He washed the disciples feet. John 13 verse 3 to 5.

Here Jesus demonstrates a fundamental principal that He always was stressing to His followers: To lead others, one must serve others.

In Isaiah 42 verses 1 to 9: Is the first of four servants songs {along with 49 verse 1 to 7 and 50 verses 4 to 9 and 52 verse13 to 53 verse 12}.

A true servant of ministry servant hood, doesn’t bully, but befriends. They do not shout, they get their words across effectively by not shouting. There is no need for hard sell, with those that dismiss them. there is no argument to get their views across. A true servant will not brush aside a person, who is bruised and hurt. They have incredible respect for others and there is no coercion in whatever they do. They are driven by compassion.

In the light of Our Lord and Our friends example, especially in giving Himself, to die on the cross as one of us. He was and is God, and He did it for us.

Mathew 20 verse28 {Message Bible}  “This is what the son of Man has done: he came to serve, not be served — and then to give away His life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”

From this we can see the following example of what it is to be a servant:

1. Caring deeply about the people, we are called to serve and lead.

2. knowing intimately the people we serve and lead.

3. Being willing to sacrifice our own convenience to meet the needs of others.

Before we can achieve these great example, we must see ourselves as called by God to serve and lead.

Isaiah 42 verse 1 {Message Bible] “Take a good look at My servant ,I’m backing Him to the hilt.”

Galatians 2 verse 20: “And I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life i now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for Me.”

We accept and become Our Lord and Our Friend’s hands and feet in this world, to live a life as one of service to Him. It is by free choice, to show our love for Him.

Servants who the world would call lowly, is a high  position in the Kingdom of God, because He is backing it to the hilt.
