Scripture Of The Week – Matthew 4:19-20

Matthew 4 verse 19 and 20

v19 “Follow Me”, He {Jesus} told them, “and I will make you fish for people.”

Verse 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

Jesus wants us all to follow Him, to take up the task of the great commission. There was no indecision here Jesus asked and they immediately follow Him.

Let us set our minds to follow Him in such a way.

It is a task were He will always be with us. He will equip us with all we need for service.

Come Follow A wonderful Lord and Friend.

As an item of interest; This is the explanation of how the Fish became a symbol of Christianity.

The first disciples were fishermen. The only recorded meal that Jesus cooked was fish for breakfast. {read about it in John 21 verse 9 to 13}.

Early on the fish became a symbol for Christ from the Greek word for fish “ichthys”

Jesous, Christos, Theou, Yios ,Sater

Jesus,   Christ      Son    God   Savior.

When two early Christians met, the first might trace one arc of the fish symbol on the ground, then the other would confirm that he or she was a believer by adding the other part of the fish curve.

Come Follow Him the journey is miraculous.

God Bless,
