Uniquely gifted

Reading Proverbs 22 today in The Passion Translation, verse 29 says “If you are uniquely gifted in your work, you will rise and be promoted. You won’t be held back – you’ll stand before kings.” To me, kings’ in this verse, could simply mean people in authority and with power.

Romans 12:3-8 is about serving our Lord and Friend, and others, through a grace gift given to each one of us. The gifts mentioned here are prophecy, ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, leading and showing mercy. Scripture tells us, ‘faith works by love”, so in whatever we do, let our motivation be love.

What stood out to me in Proverbs 22:29, was ‘uniquely gifted’. Each of us has been molded by the trials and triumphs in our lives. God fashions our hearts individually. He has a unique purpose for each one of us.

1 Corinthians 12:4-10 refers to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Diversities of gifts, differences of ministries, diversities of activities – but the same Lord, the same God who works all in all. Verse 11 “But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”

The goal being that we would seek to build up the body of Christ, in love. Consider how to encourage one another to love and good works. Be content and delight ourselves in Him. Share His joy, goodness and love with whoever He leads us to.
