Live the Faith

This week I was reading the book of Jude. This letter was written to warn against false teachers, mockers who are motivated by their own desires and who cause divisions.

Right beliefs and right living go hand in hand.

Jude v.20-23, give us 7 pointers to aid us in living out our faith: Discipleship, prayer, remaining in God’s love, accepting Christ’s mercy, being compassionate, evangelistic, and with discernment.

One version of these 3 verses says, “my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit. Fasten your hearts to the love of God and receive the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ who gives us eternal life. Keep being compassionate to those who still have doubts, and snatch others out of the fire to save them. Be merciful over and over to them but always couple your mercy with the fear of God. Be extremely careful to keep yourselves free from the pollutions of the flesh.”

Jude urges believers to pray in the Holy Spirit, keep themselves in the love of God (Father) and receive the mercy of Jesus Christ. The Godhead three in one.

How amazing is our Lord and Friend. Verse 24 tells us ‘He is able to keep you from stumbling, to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. God our Saviour, Who alone is wise.’

In every season, let’s keep our hearts and minds fixed on Him, the lover of our soul and keeper of our hearts. He is faithful to deliver us.
