From The Heart

You have gone into my future to prepare the way

The Passion Translation Psalm 139:5 “You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. You have laid your hand on me.”

While having coffee with a friend today, she mentioned a term called ‘prevenient grace”. I had not heard of this before, but it captured my attention.

A description of ‘prevenient grace’ is preceding grace or enabling grace. It refers to the concept that refers to the grace of God in a person’s life which precedes and prepares a ones heart for conversion.

A Pastor commented: “from now on, I will see my hospital visits or in counseling sessions in a new light. Knowing Christ is risen and is going before me. I am so intrigued with the idea that the Master is always ahead of me, that when I meet up with His children, I am coming in on something that is already in progress.” Grace is there – even before we need it.

Nothing that goes on in our lives is irrelevant. How wonderful to know that when one is undergoing a crisis, our Lord and Friend has already gone ahead to make a way.

“The LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” Psalm 84:11 (NKJV) Christ is our Righteousness.

Shalom
