In comparing The Word of God to a sword, the writer was not suggesting that God uses His Word to slaughter His believers!
Hebrews 4 Verse 12 and 13:
V12: “For the Word of God is living and effective and sharper than any two-edge sword, penetrating as to divide soul, spirit, joints and marrow, it is a judge of ideas and thoughts of the heart”.
V13: “No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to Whom we must give an account”.
Certainly, The Word cuts through the hearts of sinners with conviction and The Word defeats Satan.
Ephesians 6 Verse 17: “Take the Helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is The Word of God”.
The Greek word translated ‘sword’ means ‘a short sword or dagger’. The emphasis is on the power of The Word to penetrate and expose a person’s inner heart.
The Word is a discerner and exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Imagine a scalpel gently and accurately cutting way to separate the diseased flesh from the vibrant healthy flesh.
Allow The Master surgeon to cut away, things in our lives that stop the fullness of His presence equipping our lives in our service for Him.
God Bless.
