Chaplain’s Chat
Have you heard this quote? “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”.
I went to get some bread to make a sandwich; it was nearly a full load, and we
had only had it for a couple of days. It still felt fresh and looked fine from the
outside. I then opened the packet and removed three or four slices, and there
it was, mold. The whole loaf is ruined! I was disappointed because I was
looking forward to that sandwich.
I thought of my own condition, whether there’s any mold in me that, if not
dealt with, would destroy the whole body (physically, mentally, emotionally,
and spiritually). What about you?
Ask yourself: what’s eating me away inside? What are the thoughts and
feelings that are destroying me? How do I treat, react, and respond to people
because of the condition of my heart? The smallest thing has the potential to
destroy. Giving all that over to God, allows Him to cleanse, heal and renew us.
Colossians 3:8 (Contemporary English Version) “But now you must stop doing
such things. You must quit being angry, hateful, and evil. You must no longer
say insulting or cruel things about others.”
Dear Heavenly Father, You know that for us, this is easier said than done. Instill
in us, Lord, the fact that You are our refuge and strength – our ever-present
help in times of need. Help us to make those changes we need to make, so
that we will be the people you want us to be. Help us to love others as you
love us, in Jesus Name. Amen.
