Dealing with Difficulties Hopelessness
Hopelessness is described as a feeling or state of despair, lack of hope, lack of inspiration and sense of powerlessness; maybe feeling forsaken.
Romans chapter 15 verse 13 “Now may the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”.
Hope to a believer is a trust word. Our hope is not like, ‘I imagine so, or it could be likely’. Our hope is in the God of hope, and it’s like an anchor, holding us firmly to what we believe through the uncertainties and in the midst of the storms of life going on around us. Our Salvation is fastened with God’s own hand, with Christ our strength, and confidence in Father God’s unchangeable nature. He Who promised is faithful. As we fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, hope is able arise in our hearts.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” This hope is described as “confident expectation of good”.
Hebrews 6 verse 19: “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil”.
1 Corinthians 13 verse 13: Faith, Hope Love. ““now these three remain, Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is love”.
Three sisters – Hope
I read something fascinating about hope. Hope is regarded by some as one of three sisters, the older sisters being Faith and Love. Raniero Cantalamessa wrote, “they are like three sisters. Two of them are grown and the other is a small child. They go forward together hand in hand with the child hope in the middle. Looking at them it would seem that the bigger ones are pulling the child, but it is the other way around; it is the little girl who is pulling the two bigger ones. It is hope that pulls faith and love. Without hope everything would stop.” Life in Christ, (Liturgical Press 2002 p81).
Hope in Knowing, Hope in Growing, Hope in our witness, and all Our Lord and Our Friend has called us to be. It is an eternal hope that purifies.
In closing, my prayer for you is Romans chapter 15 verse 13 TPT “now may God, the fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in Him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with His super-abundance until you radiate with hope!”
God Bless. Kath
