From The Heart

Go placidly amid the noise and haste
This text from a poem came to me as I sat down to write this evening. The next sentence
says ‘and remember what peace there may be in silence.’
After a few days of heavy rain, today we had a splendid day of sunshine and blue skies and
moderate temperatures. How it lifts my soul. I love to be able to take time to enjoy the
beauty of creation and ‘go placidly amid the noise and haste.’

At the end of the day I think back over our achievements, household chores, shopping, going
for a walk, spending time together and with our Lord and Friend, and I reflect on the
kindness of our Father God , “the One Who richly provides us with everything to enjoy”. 1
Timothy 6:17 TLV This verse also instructs us ‘not to set our hope on the uncertainty of
wealth, but on God.’

Taking time to sit in silence; to allow the peace of His Presence to just settle over my heart
and mind, I find the cares and anxieties of the day are able to be put into perspective and in
that place, I can “cast all my care on Him knowing that He cares for me”.

There are so many distractions that confront us every day. Whatever season we find
ourselves in, we can know that our Faithful Friend the Holy Spirit is always with us to lead us
and teach us in the way to go; showing how to navigate successfully in this season.
Stillness. Silence. Solitude. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ showed us that He always
made time to get away from the noise and bustle and be with His Father.

We need this too.
Even though He is always with us wherever we go , these times of refreshing away from the
noise are so vital. Come aside. Wait on Him; He will renew your strength.
Shalom. Kath
