From The Heart

“My soul praises God my Lord”

Today we received some great news, which we were expecting, but at the same time, one is not sure until the news actually comes.

I have to say that often times, when I finally hear the answer to prayer that we have been longing to hear, my reaction is often a type of stunned shock – and I am in awe and amazement at the goodness of our Father God. My response is often to pray in the Spirit, because I can’t think of appropriate words to express my gratitude. I feel overwhelmed.

I love how Romans 8 verses 26 to 28 says “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit please for us believers in harmony with God’s own will”……”and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them”. This verse is often used as encouragement in relation to intercession, but I find it also works for me when I am overcome by the goodness and kindness of our Lord and Friend.

This morning an encouraging email arrived which was along these lines. One of the points made was that our lives are like a beautiful tapestry that the Lord is weaving. How the Lord is able to take all that the enemy throws against us, and even what we accuse ourselves with, and, like verse 28 above, causes everything to work for our good. He strengthens when we feel weak, and reveals Himself to us in these times of testing and waiting. In this way, our trust in His goodness, wisdom, power and love is reinforced and we can rest knowing He has us in the palm of His hand, and tenderly cares for us.

May you see His tender mercies and loving kindness this week. Kath
