The Spirit of God comes to reside with us. 1 Corinthians 6 verse 19. A Guest who is always with us.
We could never image a guest house to fall into disrepair, so our body where God’s Spirit comes to reside, deserves the best from our lives.
Our lives, like any place we require a guest to live, requires maintenance. The Holy Spirit comes to our lives as a helper, and a mentor in the things of God, for our lives and the lives of others we meet.
So it is our job, to maintain, the place of residence. our body
There is a simple little song, which says something like this:
Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, which we could add, be careful little stomach what you digest. be careful little body parts, to exercise for service, all for the hospitality of our Guest.
Not everything we look at is fit for our King and Guest.
Not everything we hear, is pleasing fro our King and Guest.
Not everything we eat, is good for our body, in the service of our King and Guest.
Even being something of a couch potato, is not good for the service of our King and Guest.
Gods’ Spirit comes to help, but not to do it all, we need to listen. to His promptings, because He always has better ways for us if we are prepared to listen.
If we owned a car for example, there is an obvious reason to own one, to get around. If we don’t maintain the car, it will not be something we want to drive around in, let alone be in. The car was bought for a purpose,
It needs be cleaned and even polished, so it will last longer, and we will be always proud to own. It needs mechanical work, otherwise it breakdown, at an inopportune time. it needs fuel to keep it going, because it has a purpose to get us around.
So we as a sanctuary, need to shine, with the Glorious light we carry.
So we as a sanctuary, need maintenance, by self examination and correction, God’s Spirit has for our lives, through good friends and Pastors.
So we as a sanctuary, need to take in the right fuel, Through His Word, which requires daily intake of it vital goodness. As in the natural, we need to watch the things we eat.
A Guest resides with us, we have been bought with a price, of Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend on the cross.
A Guest reside within us, to give us new-life, new-purpose, new-destiny, and This Guest has given us His best, so our best, is the only thing Our Guest requires from us.
God Bless.
