Light In Dark Places

Following Our Lord and Our Friend is expressed in Isaiah 49 Verse 6:

“I will also make you a light for the nations, to be My Salvation to the ends of the earth.”We do not find God’s people to traveling to other peoples to convert them.

Their task was to get on with the task of being God’s people in the way they lived.Another indication of this task of bring the knowledge of God to the nations is found here too.

It is not sufficient for Gods’ people in their serving, to concentrate on meeting the needs of their own people. Our Lord and Our Friend wants to make the work of His servants effective for all peoples. This concept are taken up strongly in the New Testament. Our Lord and Our Friend did not go as a missionary to foreign countries, but through His death and resurrection He became ‘A light to the nations.

Through the Cross, Jesus as light of the world open to all nations. When the old man Simeon took the baby Jesus into his arms in the temple, he was given insight to se that the promises of the Old Testament were coming to their climax, ‘A light of revelation to the Gentiles and for God’s people Israel.

Here in this Child was God’s salvation for people everywhere. The great Commission in Matthew 28, Our Lord and Our Friend told His followers: “All Authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth,

Go therefore and make disciple of all nations”. Our task is to get on with the task of being God’s people in the way we live, and use words if necessary, demonstrating the authority Our Lord and Our Friend has given to us.

God Bless
