Psalm 46 verse 10:
If we take this scripture verse in context, it is a little hard to understand. The words ‘Be Still’, be still to know, the opposite could be expected ‘do something’ to know I am God.
The scripture really means stop you doings, stop your fighting, stop your striving, take time for God.
In Matthew 111 verse 28: states “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”‘
Being practical, if we want rest, the best way to get it, is to be still, but God like in all things put things differently to us. First He wants us to be still, to know Him and then come to Him for rest.
God is all-powerful, All-knowing and Omnipresent, among with others attributes, I somehow think that the verse was looking down through the centuries of time to this generation.
Be still! to a generation of cultural doers, cultural fatigue people. We shop in most places 24/7. We get entertained 24/7 . There is always something to do.
People are always busy doing something, but we need to ‘Be Still’, and understand what and why we are so busy. Unless we can find the time to ‘Be Still’, we might miss all there is to know about the God that loves us.
“Be Still’ Our Lord and Our friend is saying, take time out for Me, and I will give you real Rest. Rest and Peace that surpasses the world understanding.
Come to Him less of all our business, come to Him in this time of 24/7 everything and find Rest. Rest that will invigorate us all to know more about His ways, and His Purpose for all our Lives.
Psalm 4 verse 3 and 4:
V3; “Know that The Lord has set apart the faithful for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call to Him”.
V4: “Be angry and do not sin; on your bed, reflect in your heart and be still”.
“BE Still, and know that He is God”.
