We were separated from God by wrong-doings {sin}, there was nothing we could do for ourselves to restore our relationship with Him, but Romans 5 verse 8 & 9, tells us:
V8: ” But God proved His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”
V9: “Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.”
An old hymn ‘More Love to Thee, O Christ’, expresses the Great love we should have, for all Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend has done for us.
V1: More love to Thee, O Christ,
More love to Thee: Hear
Thou the prayer i make On bended knee;
This is my earnest plea—
More Love to Thee!
More love to Thee!
V2: Once earthly joy I craved,
Sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek;
Give me what is best:
This all my prayer shall be—
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee!
V3: Let sorrow do it’s work,
Send grief and pain;
Sweet are They messengers,
Sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with Me—
More love, O Christ,
to Thee, More love to Thee!
V4: Then shall my latest breath
Whisper Thy praise.
This be the parting cry,
My heart shall raise—
This still it’s prayer shall be—
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee.
1 John 4 verse 19: “We love because He first loved us”.
The love He had and has for us is to vast to measure, so out of the love we have, we should have, ‘More love O Christ to thee’.
God Bless.
