It is a big issue, can’t say I have not struggles with it myself.
It is a common problem, people doubt themselves, those around them, and even God. One of the Apostle, who will always be remembered for it, is Thomas. Read about him John 20 verses 24 to 29: The irony is that we have written about Thomas, in our series of People Of Faith.
in Isaiah’s time, {Isaiah 40 verse 27} The people of God were in the middle of a serious long term trial. even though they had brought this trouble on themselves, they were not very happy, they complained, they grumbled, and even doubted God. Sound familiar, nothing changes in a good old doubting pity party.
V27: ” {Message bible]: “Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or whine, Israel, saying, “God has lost track of me, He doesn’t care what happens to me’.”
How many people think when circumstances don’t change, that God has gone missing. He never goes missing, He is always there for us. Doubting God’s presence or willingness to help, will lead to more misery.
In difficult times, that bring us to doubt, we should all take a few moments to remember just Who God is. Isaiah 40 verses 28: {Message Bible}
V28: Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come and go, God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine,He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause His breath, And He knows everything, inside and out”.
And here comes the good news for us, who doubt at times.
V29: he energizes those that get tired.
V30; Thought we may have our doubts, and sometime stumble and fall.
V31: But those that wait upon God, despite our doubts, God will give us fresh strength.
The New Testament tells us in Philippians 4 verse 6 & 7:
Our Lord and Our Friend’s peace will keep our thoughts and our hearts as we trust in Him and lay our doubts aside.
Doubts don’t have to bring us down, Our stumbling don’t have to cause us to fail. Hope comes when we break the doubt cycle, and dwell on God for Who He really is, A God that loves us.
God Bless.
