Discipleship- mentoring;
In The Great Commission Matthew 28 verse 19: {Message Bible}
“Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day, right up to the end of the age”.
Our Lord and Our Friend commanded His disciples to ‘Go and make disciples’. The objective was not that we attract their own disciples, but that we win new followers for Him.
Disciple making involves two easy steps, baptizing and teaching-mentoring. Baptism implies we have shared the Gospel and led someone to receive it. Then we must teach-mentor that person.
Point to be looked at: Jesus does not say . “teach them everything I have commanded you”, but “teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you”.
Discipleship/mentoring is not a matter of book learning, but mentoring people to a lifestyle transformation, where they will want to and enjoy learning more about Our Lord and Our Friend for themselves.
Then they will become people who can also discipleshimentor.
God Bless.
