We have often stated that we are on a journey through life, and with Our Lord and Our Friend as our companion, it is a never ending journey on to and through eternity. Many people have written books with the title ‘Joy for the Journey’ or with similar words.
One book “Joy In The Journey’ written by Guy Rice Dowd, had a radical piece about Salty Christians.
Matthew 5 verse 13; Tells us: ” You {we] are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose it’s taste. how can it be made salty? It’s is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trample on by men”.
Referring to this article on the subject in the book, ‘Joy in the Journey, the writer goes on to reflect:
“Salvation is a radical thing. It is a call to all that Christ has demanded us to do. Real Christianity will make a salty difference, in our family, in our waking up, in our work, in our relationships, in the way we spend our money, and in the way we spend our leisure time. Real Christianity is not casual. It is dynamic. It goes beyond mere intellectual assent to correct doctrine. Real Christians who want to know real Christianity, who are not content with games and masks and only images of the truth, must rise from our comfortable pews {Church seats] and leave our ‘one stop Christian service centers and go out into the world and make a salty difference”.
Joy for the Journey or Joy in the Journey, comes from stepping out into the unknown, away from any comfort zone, into real life that Our Lord and Our Friend will lead us on. Now that is a Point to Ponder.
God Bless.
