Our Lord and Our Friend Is In The Business Of Restoration

We used the Apostle Peter as our example, in our subject of ‘Struggling In Your Calling’.

Peter even though he was an Apostle, he was human and suffered like us in human weaknesses. Christ Jesus knew all about Peter’s weakness, just as He knew his strengths, Peter strengths were most likely why he was chosen as an Apostle.

We read in John 13 verse 36 to 38: Jesus predicts Peter’s denial. V36 “A rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times”

In John 18 verses 15 to 18, and Luke 14 verses 66 to 72: Peter did as predicted deny Jesus.  Verse 72; Peter remembered, after he had denied  knowing Jesus for the third time, what Jesus had said.

Maybe there have been times in our lives, for one reason or another we have not made a stand we should, and denied knowing Our Lord and Our Friend.

You have probably felt at that time how can Jesus forgive me. Well He is in the restoration business too.

Let read John 21 verses 15 to 19; Which is called ‘Jesus’ Threefold Restoration Of Peter.’

Verse 15: Jesus asked Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me more then these?’

Verse 16:Jesus asked Peter a second time, ‘Peter son of John, do you love me?’

Verse 17: Jesus asked Peter a third time: “Peter son of John, do you love me?’

All three times Peter answered in the affirmative.Peter was grieved that Jesus asked him a third time and said, ‘Lord you know everything! You know that I love You.’

The assurance of Peter calling was immediately restored, Jesus told Peter, ‘Feed My sheep.’

The assurance came from Peter’s confession “Lord you know everything”. Which was really saying Jesus you really are Lord over everything including my life.

Peter went on to be a great Apostle, and after being empowered by The Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 verse 4, preached to a massive crowd in Acts 2 verse 14.

Peter became so strong in his faith in Acts 3 verse 6: In the story of healing a lame man, Peter had the  authority and understanding to say:

“I have neither silver nor gold, but what I have, I give you: ‘IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST’ get up and walk.

Our God is a God of restoration, and He will restore us to a better place than what we fell from. If we again acknowledge our wrong-doing, and recognize Him again as Lord of Lord, and King Of Kings.

God Bless.
