It Is Finished At The Cross

Our new years resolution included a statement, “It is Finished”, this said these words from the cross. So what was finished?

The plan God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit had to redeem their creation, from the power of sin, had finished.

Christ Jesus had finished what He came to do. Sure, Jesus was born as a man, just like we all are born, but He wasn’t created, He always existed with the Father and The Holy Spirit.

In Genesis 1 verse 26 {New Living Bible}: “Then God said, ‘let Us make people {also reads man} in our own image, to be like ourselves’.”

Everyone of us is made in the image of God.

Every person is created by God and is endowed with dignity and value to God.

So what went wrong? One word  ‘Sin’. Sin has ravaged more than nature. Scripture makes it clear that through Adam’s sin, the entire human race has been infected with this fatal disease sin. “The curse of sin.”

Read Hosea 6 verse 7,      Romans 5 verse 12,

1 Corinthians 15 verses 21 and 22.

God doesn’t make mistakes but He also gave us free choice. a Freedom to choose for ourselves, we are not a robotic creation.

We are created with dignity and value’ A freedom to choose without being given a choice to choose is hollow freedom.

Genesis 2 verse 15 to 17. V 15; “The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and care for it.” V 16: “But the Lord God gave him this warning, ‘You may freely eat any fruit in the garden’.” V 17 “Except fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If you eat of it fruit, you will surely die’.”

We know they didn’t die just there and then, but what did happen? In the garden they communed with God, had companionship with God eating of the fruit God provided for them.

After they “sinned” against God, with their Free choice, they suffered the consequences of that choice.

YES EVERYTHING HAS A CONSEQUENCE. Their consequence was, in Genesis 2 verse 23: “So the Lord God banished Adam and his wife from the Garden.”

They were banished from communion with God, in the garden, to fend for themselves, not to eat of the beautiful fruit anymore. The whole of humanity was now to be born under the curse of Sin. But God was and is Merciful, Genesis 2 verse 21 “Quickly The Lord God made clothing form animal skin for Adam and his wife.”

This was a taste of forgiveness God provide a covering for them. God gave them hope for their souls, but His forgiveness did not undo the damage {of their rebellion}, but God promised then thaty one day sin would be defeated.

This was accomplished in Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ who is God and was with God The father in the beginning, came down to become one of us, through birth just like us. This is why He is called Incarnate Deity.

Christ Jesus paid the price for all our sin and restored our choice, to accept God and walk with Him, or reject Him and still walk under the curse of sin.

This is what He meant, It is finished. The restoration of All who will choice to Walk, and Commune wit hHim, once again as Adam and eve did in the beginning.

The Choice is over to each one of us. Choose Christ Jesus, to become Your Lord and Your Friend and choose to live free from the curse and power of Sin. {Wrong doings against Him}.

God Bless.
