Scripture Of The Week – Proverbs 1:7

Proverbs 1 verse 7

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

This is not a scary fear, it is a reverent fear of God awesomeness.

The fear of The Lord is not unhealthy, dysfunctional, or debilitating fear. It means appropriate respect, reverence, awe and wonder.

The ‘fear of The Lord’ involves worship of the Lord and respectful submission to His authority, in every area of life. It is this reverence of the lord, according to Proverbs, that constitutes the only sure foundation for pursuit of knowledge.

Actually when you are in the care of our loving God, we are told not to fear, and there is a great hymn that’s first verse is;

Fear Not! God is thy shield,                                                                          and He thy great reward;                                                                          His might has won the field,                                                                       Thy strength is in the Lord.

There is a difference between oppressive fear and reverent fear, the more you come to know Our Lord and Our Friend, the more awesome you will think He is, and your respectful, reverent fear of Him will be the beginning and the journey into knowledge, He has for you to know.

Take the time to find out more about Our Awesome Lord and Friend.

God Bless.
