Called to a life of freedom
Galatians, chapter 5:13 “Beloved ones, God has called us to live a life of freedom. Constantly love each other and be committed to serve one another.” Verse 14 says “For all the law can be summarized in one grand statement: ’Demonstrate love to your neighbour, even as you care for and love yourself.”
Could it be that God’s call to a life of freedom involves not just loving ourselves, but demonstrating that love in serving our neighbour?
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is Divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit.”
I love this version of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It gives beautiful expression to each fruit, highlighting the powerful effects as we allow Holy Spirit to fill our lives causing ‘rivers of living water to flow out of our bellies”.
Verse 25-26 “If the Spirit is the source of our life, we must also allow the Spirit to direct every aspect of our lives. So may we never be arrogant, or look down on another, for each of us is an original.”
As we approach another Christmas time celebration, let’s especially remember: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and strength of spirit. ‘Each one of us is an original’; a masterpiece’ in the hand of a loving Father. Thank You Holy Spirit; may the fruit of Divine love flow through us to one another.
Shalom
Kath
