Understanding transfiguration

Matthew 17 verse 1 to 8; Known as the Transfiguration and it reveals four aspects of Jesus Christ as King.

The Glory of His Person; As far as records are concerned, this is the only time Jesus revealed His glory in this way while He was on earth.

Our Lord and Our Friend’s glory was not reflected but radiated from within. The change on the outside came from within as He allowed His glory to shine forth.

Hebrews 1 Verse 3: “He is the radiance of His glory, the exact expression of His nature and He sustains all things by His powerful Word. After making purification for sin”.

Our Lord and Our Friend wants to shine through our lives as well by The Holy Spirit.

The Glory of His Kingdom: The presence of Moses and Elijah has great significance. Moses represents the law, and Elijah he prophets. All of the law and prophets point to Christ and are fulfilled in Christ

Hebrews 1 Verse 1: “Long ago God spoke to the fathers by prophets at different times and in different ways”.

Just as the three disciples saw Jesus glorified on earth, so God’s people will see Him in His glorious Kingdom on earth.

The Glory of His cross: The disciples and His followers have to learn that suffering and glory go together. His Promise is never leave us.

Hebrews 13 Verse 6: “therefore, we may boldly say; The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me”.

The Glory of His submission: The transfiguration was Gods’ way of teaching Peter that Jesus is glorified when we deny ourselves. The world’ philosophy is self-interest but a follower’s philosophy ‘Yield yourself to Our Lord and Our Friend and let Him transform our lives.

God Bless.
