From The Heart

Thank You

Recently my husband and I were having a quiet day, enjoying the sunshine and chatting about the Word of God. I asked if he had heard of the Scripture that “God has magnified His Word above His Name”, so I decided to go find it.

Psalm 138:1-3 NKJV “I will worship toward Your holy temple And praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your Name”.

This seems to be the only version that says it like this. A commentary says ’this signifies that God’s word, or His spoken promises and declarations, are considered supreme and trustworthy, even above His own reputation or fame. This suggests that God’s faithfulness to His word is paramount and a defining characteristic of His nature.’

Other translations of Psalm 138:2:

AMP “For You have magnified Your word together with Your name” (both are magnified)

NASB “For you have magnified Your word according to all Your name” (emphasis God’s word is in accordance with His character)

The Message “Most holy is Your name; most holy is Your word.” (both are holy)

I particularly love passage in The Message, Psalm 138:1-3

“Thank You! Everything in me says “Thank You!”. Angels listen as I sing my thanks. I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: “Thank You!” Thank You for Your love, thank You for Your faithfulness; Most holy is Your name, most holy is Your word. The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength.”

I believe thanksgiving opens doors. This week I have had energy and motivation where I have felt stuck previously. It’s like when everything in me says “thank You” “thank You” – He steps in and enlarges my life with strength. How amazing is our Lord and Friend. I am forever in awe of His love and kindness and faithfulness. Thank You Lord.

Shalom.

Kath
