Sweet aroma of the knowledge of Christ
This month I have been doing some training and today I received an article about one of my much-loved subjects – releasing the aroma of Christ.
The question was asked; Can we really affect the world? With a busy life, can we have a positive impact on a community?
Is it possible to impart the fragrance of Love wherever we go? I certainly think it is. If we can have “stinking thinking” and if our attitude can leave a “stench,” or if something can “smell off,” then why can’t we leave a “fragrance of Love?”
We carry the fragrance of heaven—let’s be conscious to release it as we go? Why not try stopping for the one and see what happens sometime this week?
Like a person whose perfume lingers on your clothes long after they have left, we can leave the fragrance of Love in our wake. 2 Corinthians 2:15 says, “we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15). It is His LOVE that causes hearts to shift and change.
Maybe it’s the aroma of His peace, or His joy or His hope or His loving-kindness that someone needs. We can have a ‘word in season for one who is weary’ and thus leave behind the fragrance of our Lord and Friend as we go. Possibly a smile, a listening ear or a genuine ‘thank you’ could be what is needed to encourage another to keep walking the walk.
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place”. 2 Corinthians 2:14 NASB1995
May we be aware that we are carriers of His Presence this week and allow the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Christ to be released ‘in every place’.
Shalom.
