Come and dine
“Whoever wants to know Me and receive My wisdom, come and dine at My table and drink My wine. Lay aside your simple thoughts and leave your paths behind. Agree with My ways, live in My truth, and you will find righteousness.” Proverbs 9:4-6 The Passion Translation
These verses have been challenging and encouraging me recently. Sometimes we can struggle with old ‘religious’ ways of thinking we have to earn our salvation or work harder to be pleasing to God instead of resting in the finished work of Christ.
When the Scripture says ‘lay aside your simple thoughts and leave your paths behind’; it reminds me to be continually allowing my mind to be renewed by the Holy Spirit and the Word.
‘Agree with My way, live in My truth and your will find righteousness.”
1 Corinthians 1:30 AMP tells us “But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God (revealing His plan of salvation) and righteousness (making us acceptable to God), and sanctification (making us holy and setting us apart for God), and redemption (providing our ransom from the penalty for sin).” We have our righteousness as a free gift in Jesus Christ.
Psalm 23 verse 5a “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”
Our Lord and Friend invites us to come and dine at His table of Provision, Peace and Protection. Let’s be wise and accept His invitation; receive all He has purchased for us and celebrate His goodness.
Shalom
