From The Heart

Faith and Patience

Faith and Patience are called the Power Twins.

Faith refers to trust and confidence in God and His promises, while patience denotes endurance and long-suffering. The combination of these two virtues is mentioned in Hebrews 6:12 AMP “so that you will not be (spiritually) sluggish, but (will instead be) imitators of those who through faith (leaning on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power) and by patient endurance (even when suffering) are (now) inheriting the promises.”

We also see in Galatians 5:23,23 that these two virtues are listed in the fruit of the Spirit: qualities we see in our Lord and Friend Himself. The Holy Spirit living within us is able to produce/accomplish this fruit in our lives. Love is the everlasting fruit that will not fade away, and to bear this fruit we need to abide in His love.

We all face trials and challenges at various times in our lives and it is comforting to know that we have a Friend Who sticks closer than a brother, Who is all powerful, all wise and is Love unconditional.

Someone once said “in warfare, rest becomes a weapon that you can use on the enemy. The fruit of the Spirit may be a more powerful force against the enemy than the gifts. You can defeat the enemy by living in the love of God. You can weary him by your joy.”

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions – joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart and strength of spirit – never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.” The Passion Translation
