Our identity come from our adoption into the family of God.
Our occupation comes from our service we do in our love for what He has done for us. He loves us no matter what we do or don’t do, we are saved by Grace and not through works.
Galatians 3 Verse 26 and 27:
V26: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus”.
V27: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ”.
We believers who were all confirmed under sin and kept custody under the law, are now sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Sons of God: Believers are deeply loved sons of God. Why sons and not children of God? Because in the Roman world, adopted sons enjoyed special privileges and were marked as heirs. {Galatians 4 Verse 5}
We have received a spirit of adoption as sons. {Romans 8 verse 15}
Whether we are male or female, we are fellow heirs with Christ. {Romans 8 Verse 17}
Some believers confuse identity with occupation. This leads to false humility and can lead to pride and deception. The Apostle Paul refers to himself as a bondservant of Christ, he is describing his ministry, not his identity. Paul also called God ‘Father” and so do we.
We are made sons and adopted into God’s family by believing in The Son of God.
Identity comes from family. We are in the family business of taking Our Father’s love to the world.
Identity and occupation are all in our position of being adopted into Gods’ family by what Christ Jesus did on the Cross.
