Sunday Encouragement

If this is your day for rest, like us all you still need encouragement. Be encouraged today by this wonderful verse from John 19 Verse 28:

John 19 Verse 28: {NKJV} “Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished”.

Controversial Truth: John 19 verses 28 to 30: Subtitled in some Bibles: ‘The Finished Work Of Jesus’. V28: “After this, when Jesus knew that everything was now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, ‘I’m thirsty!’ V29: A jar full of sour wine was sitting there; so they fixed a sponge full of sour wine on hyssop and held it to His mouth. V30: When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ Then bowing His head, He gave up His Spirit.” What had Jesus finished,

The Price He came to pay for us, had been paid in full. We have full deliverance.

At a time when we just celebrated His birth, we should remember the real reason why He came. John 3 verse 16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in should not perish but have everlasting life”.

Colossians 1 verse 13: {Amplified Bible} “[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of The Son of His love.” So the controversial point we are pointing out here is: Some people are of the opinion that after conversion, a believer may need to be ‘delivered’, from demonic forces that have controlled them before they trusted in Christ Jesus.

The Word of God tells us that when we repent, except and embrace the Truth, of what Christ Jesus achieved on the cross, for all who come. God delivers us, ‘It is finished’ {past tense} from the powers of darkness. There is no need for further human intervention or deliverance ministry to add to what Christ has already done.

Perhaps it is a need for the fullness of the Gospel message to be clearly and completely taught. In Christ Jesus we have complete deliverance, and as Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend, stated, everything He came to do was Finished. We should not add to the finished Word of The Cross. It is good to have controversial points, if it makes us all delve deeper into His Word for our lives.
