Fruit of the Spirit Growing in Character Faithfulness
Galatians 5:22-23 NLT “But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law”.
Faithfulness is listed 7th in this Scripture on the fruit of the Holy Spirit. All believers are looking forward to the day when we hear the Lord say to us “well done good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21), so its important to consider and cultivate.
One meaning of faithfulness is ‘the fact or quality of being true to one’s word or commitments, as to what one has pledged to do or professes to believe.’ Faithfulness includes many virtues like loyalty, honesty, reliability, steadfastness, loving kindness, and patience.
1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT “But remember that the temptations that come into your life are not different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.” God is faithful. He watches over His word so that it does not return without accomplishing that for which He sent it.
Hebrews 10:23 ‘Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful”.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 “but the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”
Psalm 36:5 “Your steadfast love O LORD extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds”.
These are just a few Scriptures on the faithful nature of our Lord and Friend. His Holy Spirit dwells in us, and we can trust Him to develop that same character trait in us. Let’s keep our eyes firmly fixed on Him, beholding His glory and allowing Him to lead us into maturity in Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
God bless. Kath
