Fruits Of The Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit Developing Character Joy Part 2
Galatians 5 verse 22….”but the fruit of the Spirit …is joy….” This fruit of the Spirit, joy, is
most important to develop for an overcome. At some time, each of us experiences sorrows,
pain and frustration as we live in this world. We must develop the fruit of joy because the
power to overcome is joy’s main attribute.
Joy is the strength that enables a person to remain steadfast, immovable, always abounding
in the work of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58) .
Hebrews 1:9 says, “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness, therefore God,
Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions”. Scripture
tells us here that our Lord Jesus was ” anointed with the oil of gladness.”
Isaiah 12 verse 3 tells us “Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of
salvation.” Salvation means ‘safety, soundness, deliverance, preservation, and health. This
covers every aspect of life, not just the spiritual aspect. So in the midst of a trial, the bucket
of “joy” enables a person to scoop down into the wells of salvation and draw out whatever is
lacking in his life. The wells of salvation contain such things as healing, financial prosperity,
safety, preservation and soundness of body and mind.
Joy is not based on feelings or circumstances; joy is bestowed by God and resides in our
spirit by the Holy Spirit. Paul talks to the Philippians in chapter 1 verse 25 “I plan to be
around awhile, companion to you as your growth and joy in this life of trusting God
continues”. Believers who cultivate faith by spending time in God’s Word will also be
developing the fruit of joy. Both joy and faith stand together on the solid foundation of the
eternal Word of God. . 2 Corinthians 1:24.
Proverbs 12:20 “counselors of peace have joy” NKJV “…those who plan for peace are filled
with joy” TPT
May we be counselors of peace, filled with joy which is our strength.
