Some meanings of ‘flourish’; grow luxuriantly; thrive; achieve success; prosper.
Many scriptures tell us that our Lord and friend wants us to flourish/prosper in all that we do. 3 John verse 2 says “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers”.
We see much turmoil in the world around us. Earthquakes, war and other difficulties everywhere; but we can look up and live, even flourish in this season, for we know that the Lord is with us – He is mighty to save.
Psalm 1 promises prosperity to those who delight in God’s Word and who meditate on His Word, day and night. In other words, when we put God and His word first in our lives, we can prosper in every way.
We can be “like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail, their leaves never wither and in all they do they prosper”.
This promise is for those who “mediate”, day and night, on the instructions and precepts of God’s word. Meditate meaning to mutter, ponder and speak out loud. We renew our minds when we meditate on scriptures. Jesus is the Word made flesh and Holy Spirit has come to us to empower us to walk in the abundance of life that our Lord and Friend purchased for us by His blood, shed at the cross, and through His resurrection.
We are to be a light shining in the darkness, bringing the good news of the Gospel of God’s Grace. Let us so shine the love of Jesus to those we encounter, that they may come to know our gracious Heavenly Father.
I pray that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. Kath
