Colossians 3 Verse 12: “Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience”.
The verse tells us which five virtues we should ‘put on’. the five are Compassion,Kindness, Humility, Gentleness and Patience.
Compassion: strong feeling of understanding, sympathy for the suffering of another.
Kindness: benevolent, thoughtful, unselfish, well-meaning.
Humility: The quality of being humble, lacking pretension.
Gentleness:kind, polite. meekness.
Patience: The ability to endure.
We can put on these these virtues, because of the love and forgiveness that was given to us, through Christ on the Cross. This should be apart of our Christian life.
The strong putting off verse reminds us that we belong to God and we should aim to do what pleases Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend, rather than what suits us
The putting on tells us that our new life is based on the kind of life which Jesus Himself lived.
Our life is not our own, we have been brought with a price. Galatians 2 v 20:
‘And I no longer live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me”.
Everyday, we should put on more and more of His qualities for our lives.
God Bless.
