God is Sovereign. we should all be saying ‘Praise the Lord’ to that. There is nothing He can’t do
Nahum 1 verse 7: “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of distress; He cares for those who take refuge in Him”.
It reminds me of a song we would teach and sing in Children church. ‘My God is so big so strong and so mighty, there is nothing My God can not do’
To know and acknowledge that God is Sovereign. Then we can understand what the Apostle Paul means in: 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9:”My Grace {God’s Grace that comes at Christ expense} is sufficient for you, for power, {His Power} is perfected In {our} weakness”.
How difficult it is to watch what is happening in the world today! terrorists seems to strike all over the globe; dictators oppress their people through murder and brute force; wars break out all the time and never seem to solve anything. Nahum Assure us that none who do evil can expect to escape justice. The desire for justice is inborn in the Human mind, so it is encouraging to know that in the end evil will be defeated. Nahum also warns us to be sure that we are among those who seek refuge in God and not among those who fight against Him. Divine judgement is a sword that can not be deflected by hypocrisy
A Hymn to The Sovereign God: Nahum begins prophecy with a two part Hymn that sets forth the theme which depict selected key elements of God’s nature. The Hymn emphasis that God is a God of Justice, Who will punish the wicked and avenge His own. Nahum makes it very clear God is Sovereign and Mighty who, although He is long-suffering will defeat His foes.
The Majestic Hymn to God {Yahweh} Nahum 1 verse 2 to 10: just using verse 5:
The mountains quake before Him, and the hill melt; the earth trembles at His Presence and the world and all who live in it”.
A message for ‘Such a time as this’ Our God is sovereign, and it is in Him, who we should put our trust. There is such a wonderful message in Nahum, about the Sovereignty of God.
Sovereign means having supreme rank, power and authority, lets us all allow Him to reign in our lives, more and more as we walk with Him, on a daily bases.
God Bless.
