Memories, I am sure we all have fond memories, and sometimes a funny incidents from the past come to mind. One such incident that came to me lately, was from my first job, many, many moons ago. I obtained a job at the hospital as a clerk, and one of the Matrons name was Matron Bendicton. Well I had a funny habit of calling her Matron Benediction, well she turned to once and explained, she was not a church blessing, her name was Bendicton.
I was reading through the concordance in my Bible, during my daily devotions, and came across the word benediction, which reminded me of the above incident.
Benediction according to the dictionary, is a Grace or blessing. And they would once say don’t leave on your journey without receiving a benediction. The origin from Bene + Latin. dictio – declaration.
The concordance gave three references for Benediction, which makes a good devotion.
In Numbers 6 verse 22 to 27; It is called a Priestly blessing:
V22: “The Lord spoke to Moses: V23: “Tell Aaron and his sons how you are to bless the Isrealites, Say to them:
V24: “The Lord bless you and protect you:
V25: “The Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you:”
V26: “The Lord look with favor on you and give you peace”.
V27: “In this way they will put My Name on them and I will bless them”.
The People of God, were on the move to the promise land, under Moses leadership. Aaron and his sons were Priest,
We are on a great journey through life to our eternal destiny with our High Priest, Christ Jesus.
Hebrews $ verse 14 to 16:
V14: Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens— Jesus The Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession”.
V15: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin”.
V16: “Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time”.
Benedictions are great, but we have far more than a blessing for our journey through life, we have every spiritual blessing available to us In Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1 verse 3:
“Blessed be the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with Every Spiritual blessing in the heavens, IN CHRIST”.
The Other Scripture referred to as benedictions are:
Psalm 20 verse 1 to 4: and 2 Corinthians 13 verse 13:
A memory of a funny incident from the past, lead me to confirm again, what I already knew, how blessed we are In Christ.
God Bless.
