CHRISTMAS IS A TIME TO REFLECT
A yearly event for Christians and non-Christians brings many mixed feelings. A time to celebrate with family and friends: or perhaps not? The pre-Christmas intensity brings us to the day often frazzled and weary and to say the least, often amidst friction. Family reunions sometimes get tense and judgemental or others eat, laugh and enjoy with vigour. Then there is the sadness of loved ones not being present, often disagreements spill over and by the end of the day the partakers depart with angst and the night brings separation and a feeling of ‘What went wrong?’
Celebrating the ‘Christ’ in Christmas means being in the presence of his power and peace and trusting his serenity no matter what tomorrow will bring. Just for one special day we need to evaluate the past year and enjoy a day of honoring his birth with our loved ones. However, it is not like that for everyone, the lost, lonely, homeless and hungry, the unloved suffer in just another endless day. So if you know anyone who needs the Christ-love of power, peace and caring concern in their day, choose to share these gifts with them, if only for a few hours.
Jeremiah 20verse 13 – SING TO THE LORD! GIVE PRAISE TO THE LORD! HE RESCUES THE LIFE OF THE NEEDY FROM THE HANDS OF THE WICKED!
Have a blessed Christmas but pass the love of your Lord onto the needy and let his presence be that gift.
