Weekend Encouragement ‘Do The Joy’

joy

I get really depressed when I watch the news or read the paper. It just seems like everyday there’s a new problem. An earthquake that takes lives, an economic slump in Greece. Everyday, hardworking men and women losing their jobs, houses being taken, sicknesses taking lives, and just a whole lot of doom and gloom in general.

So I stopped watching and reading.

Funnily enough, after I did that, my whole demeanor and outlook changed. Sounds too simplistic I know, it also sounds a little like I’m huddled in the corner with my eyes closed, hands over my ears and saying la la la la la out loud so I don’t accidentally hear anything negative or to the contrary.

Well say what you like or call me what you will, but a verse in my Bible, and more than likely in yours too, is a verse that informs me that anything that robs my joy from me is from the devil, and not in fact of God.

John 10:10

It’s so easy to focus on the negative things of the world, but what does that really achieve. Sure we might be moved, we might become compassionate. But I often find, especially in my case, that when I focus on all these negative things, my view on God, His grace, and His power is eclipsed. All of a sudden a mega-flu that killed 15 people in China is more real to me than the power of God and His word that states that “By His stripes We WERE healed.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that getting a flu shot is lacking faith in God. Wisdom and medicine were also created by God to be a benefit to us, so please don’t take me wrong.

All I’m saying is there is so much power in the name and person of Jesus. His word should be more real to us than all the troubles of the world. We are in it not of it. In fact when this world and everything in it passes away, the spiritual world will still exist. The spiritual world and all it contains [our healing, prosperity and breakthrough] should be more real to us than anything that is going on in the world.

The world will always offer up evidence to the contrary to the word of God, and yes it is painful and real, but it shouldn’t have power over you. It shouldn’t steal your joy. You should be able to get up of the morning and dance and sing and praise God. Not be bogged down by bills that need to be paid, or sickness, or anything.

Nehemiah 8:10 … “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

You don’t have to focus on the negative things of the world, they only want to dilute your faith. Instead focus on the good things of God, and his word, and you will find strength, you will find hope, and you will find Joy.

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

So be joyful and be confident that God will protect, guide, and cover you, because He takes joy in you! So do the Joy! Life is a whole lot more pleasurable!

Be Blessed
