People get quiet carried away with the word love, and will always be quick to tell you God is love. Well He is, Love is the heart of God’s nature not only has Love, God is Love. The Love of God is perfection of affection God has which moves Him to give Himself to His creatures continually.
But then we come across, a verses like 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 9 to 10:
V9: “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
V10: “Who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him”.
So God has ‘Wrath’. well we need to be clear what Scripture means when it mentions God’s wrath. God’s wrath is not like or the same as sinful human anger, which is often an irrational, and difficult to control emotion. God’s wrath is best described as righteous anger against evil.
God’s wrath is against evil, that has to be good, it is about time someone stood up to evil. The world is full of injustice and good people suffering, many dictators through history were responsible, for the murder of millions. God’s wrath satisfies our need for justice.
God’s wrath is against sin, which is evil to Him, so this bring personal implications for us all. Not good but True, everyone without exception, faces God’s wrath.
Romans 3 verse 23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God”.
God is Love, God has wrath, all have fallen short, we may not think we are as bad as some people or even those dictators, but sin is sin in God’s eyes.
God’s solution to His wrath on sin, is the death of His own Son on the cross, It is Jesus’ death which enables us to be seen as righteous and forgiven in God’s eyes, no longer needing to face the just consequences of God’s wrath towards our own sin.
Just as God declares all have sinned, the result of Jesus’ actions, the righteousness of God can come to us ‘All’ through faith in Christ Jesus to all who believe. Romans 3 verse 22.
1 John 1 verse 9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from All unrighteousness”.
Through repentance of the things that God calls sin in our lives, the wrath of God will not be directed to us any more, and we have no reason to worry about, all the other evil in the world, because that to and the people, who continue in it will not miss the wrath of God.
Now through repentance, the wrath of God has been dealt with in our lives, by accepting what Christ Jesus did for us, after which we should put on His Love, so others too will find His Grace and Mercy and forgiveness.
God is Love, God does have wrath, because He is also Just, Love without Justness, is just lovey dovey, and that is not God’s kind of love. God is Love, God is Just and God is Merciful in is Justness.
