Reflective Moment ‘Seeking First The Kingdom’

The Christ

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, his answer to Satan’s question on hunger was: Matthew 4 verse 4;
“Man {or woman} must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”.

If  we are hungry we should eat if we can, because there certainly isn’t anything wrong with getting something to eat. We all get Hungry, so how can it be a temptation to get some bread to eat, either by a miracle or by buying it.

But this temptation was all about priority, This temptation was to put bread first before God. To put the need for bread at the center of our lives and the need for God somewhere lesser.

Jesus said, “He wouldn’t do it. He said the need for God preceded His need for beard”. Jesus states that “The Word of God was the basic to His life”. He said He would attend to God first and bread second.

Somehow if we understand priorities with God, we somehow may understand more of what Matthew 6 verse 33 is trying to teach us:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you”. Take time to reflect, why God wants to be first in our lives.

God Bless.
