John 3 verse 16: {Nkjv} “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”.
Not just a ticket to ride to eternal life, We shouldn’t just be looking for the ticket, because we can have fullness on the journey. It is a wonderful thing that many people have excepted God’s offer, through Christ Jesus, but they settle there at the acceptance of Salvation. To take it further, it requires surrender to the self life.
Like a ticket to ride on a great cruise ship, on a long journey, they settle on a deck share, and never look over all that is available to them.
2 Samuel 23 verse 5: {Nkjv} “ Although my house is not so with God, Yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in all things and secure”.
We have plenty of resources, these days, we have a nice complete Bible, The Word of God, we have so much resource material, Bible handbooks, study guides, But when you consider what they would have had around the time of The Book of Acts in The Bible, they would have the Old testament, if they could find one outside the temple. It wasn’t a book like we could take off the shelf, or look on the computer for, it was in scrolls.
They might have been able to read various writings on scrolls, from people who had been or witnessed Jesus, like Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But the writings of Paul weren’t around, with all His inspired writings. Paul {Saul} was still trying to stop the spread of the Gospel, that he then thought was wrong.
What the people had, was an experience and experience of the Risen Lord, and an experience they passed on.
Most people these days are not looking for experiences, they only want a ticket to ride, to know they are safe. But Salvation is an experience where the Risen Lord comes to live with us, and let the Holy Spirit be our mentor for our journey through life, and through all eternity.
We should be looking for the experience the early church had, it was called the Acts of the apostle, and technically the Acts of the Apostles has never finished, only diminished by the narrow ways of man.
Acts Chapter 3: Peter and John were going to the temple to pray, a beggar was looking for help. Peter and John looked at the man, and said, ‘Such as we have rise up in Jesus name”. Because of that experience the man was never the same again, he was made whole.
Acts Chapter 8: A man called Simon, tried to buy the Power and The Experience of The Risen Lord, the Apostle had.
The ticket can’t be bought it must be given, and accepted, by a repentant heart, and acknowledging Jesus as The Christ.
The Power and The Experience can’t be bought, it comes from surrendering ourselves to the source, Jesus as The Christ.
Salvation is more than a ticket to ride, it is the start of a discovery, that will give us joy, for our journey through life, and to be with Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend, in the eternal realm.
God Bless.
