Being a follower of Our, Our Redeemer and Our Friend, must result in a changed life. If He is the head of all things, and if He has risen from the death for us, this has a direct consequence for the way we live.
Colossians 3; is a great read for this topic: ‘The Life of the new person’.{Quote for Message Bible}
“Resurrection is not only what happened to Jesus; it is not only what will happen to us in the future after death; it is happening now. What happened to Christ is happening to us. Present tense. Christians not only be raised from the dead, but we are already raised from the dead so that we can experience the power of God that enables us to walk in the newness of life.”
Paul in this Chapter of Colossians, refers to putting off, putting on analogy in this passage is probably a reminder of baptism, when new believers shed their old clothes and put on new garments.
The new life we have In Christ Jesus, is a down-to-earth life, to do with character and everyday relationships. The pulling off verse is to remind us we belong to God and we should aim to do what pleases Our Lord, and Our Friend, rather than what suits us.
The putting on verse tells us that our new life is based on the kind of life which Christ Jesus Himself lived, full of love, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, humbleness, meekness and patience.
What it is to be, the miracle is not that we are delivered from our present circumstances, it is that we are transformed by them.
God Bless.
