Everything We Do

Colossians like all the Bible is a wonderful book to read, and a scripture we probably read and gloss over many times is: Colossians 3 verse 23:

Using The Amplified Bible: “And whatever you do — no matter what it is — in word or deed, do everything in the Name of The Lord Jesus and in {dependence upon} His Person, giving praise to God The Father through Him.”

I was watching a movie on the Christian channel and this scripture was mentioned. I knew, a needed to look at the scripture again, and Reflect on this wonderful verse again. Then another scripture which sounded similar, jump out at me, 3 verse 23: {The Amplified Bible}.

“Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily {from the soul}, as {something done} for The Lord and not for men.”

There seems to be a strange teaching creeping into churches, do everything to please ourselves, than God will be pleased. No where in The Bible does it say that. because Galatians 2 verse 20 tells us;

“And I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The Life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in The Son of God, who gave Himself for me.”

Christ gave Himself for us. Christ did everything in obedience to please His Father. So everything we do, in our new life is to be pleasing to Our Loving Creator God.

Referring back to verse 17: Whatever we do, no matter what it is  — in word or deed, do it through Christ Jesus Our Lord and Our Friend, to bring praise to the Father.

Verse 23: Whatever we may do, work at it heartily, as done for The Lord, and not done to please men.

The real satisfaction and happiness, we should be blessed by in life, is doing our complete best for Our Lord and Our Friend, so God can be glorified, not just in some of the things we do, but in everything we do,

It is no longer we that live, all self-effort is naught, all self pleasing is hopeless, to building anything meaningful in our lives. The Joy and satisfaction that will bless our lives, is what we do for Him, and we are to do everything for Him whole-heartedly.

Finally: Romans 12 verse 2: “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”

The life of self pleasing is dead, we should now live a life, that is good, pleasing, and walking in the will of God for our lives.

God Bless.
