Diplomacy: Any tact or skill in dealing with people.
We learnt from Daniel, that he was a man of no compromise in his faith. Daniel and His friends also give us wonderful example of diplomacy..
Looking at the life of Daniel, he gives us some awesome example in the wisdom of negotiating. He could have felt sorry for himself, he was taken into captivity, he was a foreigner in a hostile land. He was offered food that his faith forbid him to eat. He had choices, but instead of just starving himself, trying to run away, being hostile to his captors, Daniel negotiated with them. Daniel 1 verse 12 and 13:
v 12: “Please test your servants for 10 days, Let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink.”
V13 “then examine our appearance and the appearance of the young men who are eating the king’s food, and deal with your servants based on what you see.”
Through this approach Daniel was showing that the God that he believed in, had the best ways. Daniel faith in his God, led him to bigger opportunities.
Daniel approach showed great ‘diplomacy’ in his circumstances, no matter how dire they were, or testing to his faith in His God, they were, his trust in the promises of his God were real to him. We also can be assured of Our Lord and Our Friend’s promise, ‘He will will never leave or forsake either.’
Daniel is a great Book to read and we have given our small overview to the book, in our two writings on the Book Of Daniel.
