People of God in the Old Testament would sing songs that praised, The Lord. The Book of Psalms was their song book. They had a temple choir and orchestra, to lead their singing.
The Book of Palms were written over many years, by many different writers. Many were sung at religious festivals or on special occasions, to give thanks, or to ask for help, in times of need.
Some Psalms describe the writers feelings, it is these Psalms that describe the way we may feel today too. When we are happy, or sad, or gloomy, or just need help, these Psalms can help us.
Most of all the Psalms, give us words of praise, to tell of Our Lord and Our Friend’s Awesomeness and Goodness, to all of His creation.
Psalm 47 lets look a a few of the verses;
V1: “Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with a jubilant cry”.
V2: “For The Lord Most High is awe-inspiring, a great king over all the earth”.
Dropping down to Verse 6 and &:
V6: “Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our King, sing praise!”
V7: “Sing a song of instruction, for God is King of all the earth”.
Psalms is a great Book to read and enjoy, and some of the Psalms will speak to the circumstances we all go through at times. They are meant to be sung, try singing them to ourselves. guarantee they will lift our Spirits.
If you are like me, my singing is flat as a tact, it is still wonderful to read them, to seek the nourishment and encouragement that is in them.
God Bless.
