1 john 4 verse 10: “This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins”. {NIV BIBLE]
Another version states: “sent His Son to be the ‘propitiation’ for our sins”
One version states ‘an atoning sacrifice’ which is self explanatory. where as the other uses a the phrase ‘the propitiation’.
‘Propitiation’ to render our sins forgiven, if we genuinely confess our sins {wrong doings against God}.
But the words ‘Propitiation’ or ‘Atonement’, are wonderful revealing words and speak a lot to us about God’s Love. The biggest word in the verse is “love”. God Loves us, and He sent His Son, to pay the price for the separation from Him, that the power of sin had.
When we understand how much God loves us, an incredible effect comes over our personalities, we begin to love Him.
Don’t try to manufacture love. Linger in the shadow of The Cross. Te love of God finds it’s most burning expression there.
Isaiah 55 verse 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways”. Virtually confessing our ways need to change, so we can come into God’s way for our lives. His ways include The Great Love He has for us.
God Bless.
