Growth

There is a time for everything like it says in Ecclesiastes, well there is a time for growth.

We grow through our natural life, we should grow through our spiritual life. In the natural life we can’t grow, if we watch somebody else eat, and we can’t grow if necessarily if we use somebodies else diet. We need to eat and digest for ourselves for our own spiritual growth.

We might like the look of somebodies spiritual diet, but unless we have understanding about that diet, it could well as go in one ear and out the other, with little benefit to ourselves,

Paul in his writings of The Book of Hebrews, develops a deep spiritual though about Jesus using scripture and common knowledge about the work of the high priest, yet Paul pauses to concede that his reader might not be ready to hear what he is saying. Paul compares his teaching to a child’s diet.

Hebrews 5 verses 13 and 14:

V13 “Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced with the message about righteousness, because He {they} is an infant.”

V14 “But solid food for the mature—for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish between good and evil.”

Paul Is distraught to realize that the Hebrew Christians were still in need of ‘milk’. Yet their situation was not unlike that of many current believers. Their spiritual childishness is a result of their contentment with the status quo.

Paul goes on to explain, spiritual stagnation is dangerous, Genuine spiritual growth and vitality requires solid ‘food’. The spiritual and ethical discernment necessary to keep from falling prey to falsehood and the temptations of the world demands a deepened knowledge and the constant exercise of faith.

No matter how nice it is our physical lives cannot survive on a diet of lollies, something that makes us feel good. Our Spiritual lives cannot be fulfilled, if we don’t growth in the richness of understanding Our Lord and Our Friend has for us all.

Genuine spiritual growth, requires a pallet for more solid food. Paul in part of his message in Hebrews gives a warning against regression  Hebrews 6 verse 1:

“Therefore, leaving the elementary message about the Messiah, let us go on to maturity..”

Growth is an important part of all our Christian walks, maybe we all need to digest a little more solid food from “HIS WORD”

God Bless.
