From The Heart

Fear of the Lord brings strong confidence.

Proverbs 14 verse 26 NKJV “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.” TPT “Confidence and strength flood the hearts of lovers of God who live in awe of Him; and their devotion provides their children with a place of shelter and security.”

Proverbs 29 verse 25 NKJV “the fear of man is a snare but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe”. The Message “the fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that”.

Fear and confidence are usually considered opposites. We see here the contrast between two types of fear.

The fear of the Lord (which is to love, worship, trust and obey God); is the source of confidence to face the uncertainties of life in this world. Those who know their God will be strong and do exploits Daniel 11 verse 32.

On the other hand, the fear of man can bring intimidation that may make us feel unable to move forward in our lives. It can cause us to keep quiet when we want to speak out; cause us to be ineffective in our purpose in life. In the book of Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 6 to 8, Jeremiah was telling the Lord that he was a youth and couldn’t speak. However the Lord said to him in verse 8 “do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord”.

James chapter 4 verse 7 tells us to “submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you”. So if we have been yielding to the spirit of fear (of man), we can repent, renounce and break agreement with it. Yield ourselves to the “Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11: verse 2).

Our Lord and Friend is with us to lead us into victory and confidence. Jesus has already won the war and our lives are hid in Him. He will give us wisdom to know how to act in every situation. He strengthens us and helps us.

“Now thanks be unto God Who always causes us to triumph in Christ. “ Kath
