Come Aside
This is the word I felt from the Lord for me at the beginning of this year, 2026. Come aside. I wasn’t sure exactly what that meant or how to achieve it, but when the Lord asks us to do something, He also has the ‘how to’ included in the word.
In the midst of constant demands, the invitation highlights the necessity of stepping away from , rather than just taking a break from; so we can be restored in God’s Presence.
Mark 6:31 Jesus directed his disciples to “come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile”.
In Exodus 3:3-4, Moses ‘turned aside’ from his daily work as a shepherd to investigate a burning bush that was not consumed. This deliberate action of pausing, curiosity and reverence allowed Moses to hear God’s call and brought transformation and direction.
Whether we have the opportunity to ‘come aside’ for a season or a day or maybe an hour, we can all pause and focus on the Presence of our Lord and Friend and be refreshed and receive direction and encouragement.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”. It is important to know the season we are in. God has a purpose for every season of our lives, and Galatians 6:9 encourages us to not give up, so we will ‘reap in due season’. God’s timing is perfect and it takes patience and trust to wait for Him.
I love the words of the song ‘all my life You have been faithful’, and I know in this season, we can rely on the constant love and faithfulness of our Lord and Friend to lead and guide us in whatever lies ahead.
