From The Heart

You matter

One of the Pastors at our church often says, “your presence makes a difference.” I love that. I smile every time I hear him say it. Have you ever been told “you know, it’s not about you.” I heard that so often in my life, and whilst I know life is about balance, there are two sides to every coin; there are some sayings that seem to drag all the joy out of you.

Scripture tells us that “for the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross.” Hebrews 12:2 “looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

In the Gospel of John chapter 4, Jesus encounters the Samaritan woman, who receives the revelation “could this be the Christ?” in verses :31-34, Jesus disciples were urging Him to eat some food, but Jesus replied, “I have food to eat of which you do not know”. Verse 34, “Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”

Jesus goes on to say that the fields are already white for harvest. Verse 36 “and he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.”

You matter. It is about you. Our Lord and Friend has gifted each one of us with talents and purpose that align with our calling. Just like Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, we have a field in the kingdom where we are called to influence and share the good news of the gospel. Just like Jesus, ‘our food is to do the will of the Father”.

The Father loves a cheerful giver. As we walk with Him, we can flow in the joy of knowing “for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” You are unique.

Remember Psalm 139. God values you, loves you and says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are God’s masterpiece created in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Shalom. Kath
