Prayer and Food for Thought Part 1
I just wanted to offer a few points here from what I have been reading lately and hope it helps and encourages you.
1. We enter His gates with thanksgiving. Psalm 100:4 ; Psalm 95:2 and 1 Thess 5:16-18. Prayer in the initial stage is not so much about speaking, but about listening and reading, being still and waiting on Him. Firstly thanking our Lord and Friend with a grateful heart
a. We are thankful because every problem we encounter comes with His provision attached. Romans 8:28 tells us that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
b. Gratitude is the bedrock of our life of worship, every day of our lives.
2. We also need a plan, for vision without strategy is just wishful thinking. Plan to enter His gates with thanksgiving. Once we have come into His Presence, we then be still and listen to the heart of God. Being still helps us be open to the channel of communication between us and Heaven. (Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God”).
3. Rest. “In rest and repentance you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15) Rest is the best weapon against the enemy, because rest allows us to hide in our secret place with God. . (Faith and anxiety cannot exist in the same space – we choose which one we yield to.) We learn how to come boldly to God as our refuge and our fortress, as our high place, as our secret place where the enemy cannot touch us.
“Peace is the potting soil of revelation” John Paul Jackson.
Have a blessed week soaking and resting in His Presence.
Shalom Kath
