Grow in grace

2 Peter 3:18 “but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”

We grow in grace by putting our faith in our Lord and Friend and receiving His grace (spiritual strength), in situations that are difficult or impossible for us. Sometimes when we put our faith in Him, He gives us grace for deliverance and at other times, He gives us grace to “go through” the trial. Either way, we have the victory which is only by grace through faith.

Grace is God’s unmerited, undeserved favor toward us; His power coming into our situation to do for us what we cannot do ourselves.

Grow….in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As we grow in the intimate knowledge of our Lord and Friend, we obtain wisdom for life and a greater sense of peace and freedom.

As we lean into Him through reading His Word and spending time with Him, we can better understand His character. Understanding His character, His faithfulness and goodness will help us to rely on His promises, and strengthen our faith and hope even in the midst of adversity.

Colossians 1:4 in the Amplified Bible explains faith like this. ”For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus (the leaning of your entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness).

My faith is manifested as I lean on God totally, taking all the weight off myself and placing everything on Him: trusting in His power and ability to do what needs to be done; His wisdom and knowledge to do it when it needs to be done (right timing): His goodness and love to do it the way it needs to be done. Thank You Lord.
